THE SERVICES OF
DUAL SYSTEM ZENTEK
As a dual system, Zentek provides you with the entire range of services – the licensing, collecting, sorting, and recovering of your recyclables. What makes our services special is the fact that they come from one single source. Through the integration of partner companies throughout Germany, Zentek is able to work more efficiently, more sustainably, and in a more resource-conserving manner. What this really means is set out below.
According to Paragraph 7(1) sentence 1 of the Packaging Act (VerpackG), those manufacturers who are the first to put on the market filled packaging that typically accumulates as waste material at the location of the end consumer have an obligation to participate (in a dual system). Such obligatory participation in a dual system ensures that the packaging is taken back nationwide. This is often referred to as licensing. The licensing of the packaging must take place before it is handed over to the end consumer.
It can be very difficult in some cases to determine which party has the obligation to participate, especially when several companies are potential addressees of the obligation. Zentek can provide you with its competent assistance in such situations and in all of your licensing needs.
Our advisory services are aimed at providing you with the best possible participation solution. If you are the party with the participation obligation, and therefore with the obligation to license your packaging, then Zentek can provide you with its support in a number of different ways – everything from registration procedures right through to data reports and the submitting of declarations of completeness.
Through the collection of packaging waste at residential locations, additional recyclables are made available for high-grade recycling purposes. In the waste collection context, a distinction is generally drawn between pick-up systems (e.g. pick-up of plastic waste from the front door) and bring systems (e.g. recycling yards). The most common collection system is the pick-up system for plastic waste (in so-called yellow bags or yellow bins). Contracts for picking up garbage bins, bags, and containers exist across Germany between the waste disposal companies and the dual systems. The costs of these services are borne by the parties who first put the packaging on the market or are paid for out of the manufacturers’ licensing fees.
The term ‘sorting’ in the waste management context is understood as the manual and mechanical separation of recyclable materials. The individual recyclable materials are sorted out and transferred to recycling processes. Modern facilities are equipped with optical and electronic detection systems for identifying the various materials. These materials are then transported from the sorting belts to the corresponding sorting hoppers via blasts of compressed air or magnetic separators. For example, from your content-emptied tin cans disposed of via a recycling system, high-grade products can be produced.
The recovery of raw materials as the basis for returning them to the
production cycle has had enormous significance for the recycling branch for many decades already. The task of the Dual System Zentek is to treat the sorted out packaging in such a way that the materials can be re-used. This economises on significant forms of energy and conserves resources as well.
